For this Fandom Friday I’m bringing you a little Star Wars action. While I’ll admit that I grew up with far more Star Trek than Star Wars in my life, I have a great affinity for both franchises. One of my favourite characters is C3PO and so when I saw some incredibly intricate water slide decal designs on Etsy, I knew I had to try them out.
Maddie Grace Boutique specializes in water slide decals. The turnaround time, decal quality, and packaging/instructions were all on point. Note that some decals are printed on white, and some o clear backing. These Star Wars decals are on a clear backing and are not opaque enough to go directly onto a dark base. To get the best results, use over a white or light coloured base.
C3PO Nail Art Steps
For this manicure, I began with a base of CND Shellac in Black Pool. I have had this on since I did the Radiant Star Collection review and despite the fact that we’re in the heat of summer, really like it as a basic manicure look.
I stamped a gear pattern with a design from Bundle Monster Plate BM-609 using Essie’s Good As Gold. I used Sally Hansen Color Foil Yellow Gold as a base on my ring finger and once it was dry, applied the decal.
You might notice that the ring finger polish doesn’t exactly look like Yellow Gold. I can assure you that it’s not from the decal. Unfortunately, the polish went wacky and tinged slightly green when I applied my topcoat. Seriously bizarre.
Anyway, I didn’t redo the nail because I actually think that the old and slightly off colour base is appropriate for our dear friend C3PO. He’s a sweet fellow but rarely stays in pristine shape for long.
