Black undies is back, and it also marks the first time I’m repeating a polish on the blog. With well more than a thousand polishes in my stash, you’d think I’d never end up repeating, but Emerald City Lights, from Girly Bits is a great topcoat effect and it would be remiss not to include it in my Black Undies feature. This also marks the first day of Girly Bits’ featured indie status in The Maple Lounge Facebook group. Yay for Girly Bits!
We’ve already looked at several topcoat effects that add a green shimmer to CND Shellac Black Pool, but Emerald City lights is the most glittery, rather than shimmery of the bunch. For other green topcoat effects, check out posts on Julep Tilda and Cult Nails Two Timer.
Emerald City lights was originally released with a green base companion polish (Emerald City) but I think it looks great over black too. The effect is noticeable but not overpowering. It’s the glitter topper for people who are afraid of glitter toppers. I’ve used just one coat over black. It applied easily and dried quickly.
Emerald City Lights – Over Green – Full Manicure
This is my original manicure featuring two coats of Emerald City Lights over Zoya Josie. You can read the post here. Over two years ago I was loving this polish, and I’m still finding it special.
Emerald City Lights – Over Black – Macro
In the macro you can see the shimmer/glitter. Depending on the light, the green is either emerald or slightly more blue toned.
Reminder: Have you entered my birthday giveaway? You can win a box exclusive Girly Bits polish or a $30 gift card to the store!
