PR Event + PR Sample

On Thursday, July 14th, 2016 NuVsio hosted a launch party for its two Active Mineral skin care products. Hosted at Art Square Gallery in downtown Toronto, company founder and product creator, Dr. Elena Brei walked a group of beauty bloggers through the development process, ingredients, and benefits of the NuVsio Purifying Mineral Mask and the NuVsio Mineral Enriched Balm Concentrate. I was in attendance along with several other lovely ladies from the Canadian Beauty Bloggers.

A PhD in chemical engineering, Dr. Brei discussed the origins of many of the minerals used in her products, including minerals from deposits in the Appalachians, and the Canadian Shield. The products use only certified organic ingredients and have no: Preservatives, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum/Paraffin Wax, Silicones, Parabens, Propylene Glycol, Ethalomines, Synthetic Dyes, Synthetic Fragrances, Phthalates, Nitro Musks,  and Alcohol. Additionally, the products use no animal byproducts and are never tested on animals.

NuVsio Skin Care – Purifying Mineral Mask

I don’t have much experience with mineral skincare or mineral makeup, but I have used natural clay and mud masks in the past and have really liked some of them. I was very excited to see how this product compares with some of the other masks I’ve used before.

The mask is very thick and dense. Like I’ve used clay masks that are pretty dense before, but this stuff is exceptionally thick and creamy. Packaged in an aluminum tube (that came with a super handy key designed to squeeze every bit of the product out), there is a metal cap that needs to be punctured before the first use. The result is a very medicinal feeling in terms of packaging and cleanliness. There is a distinct but pleasant scent to the mineral mask, and I  can only really describe it as smelling like a spa.

The mask is designed to be used after cleansing, and requires no more than 5 minutes on the skin. The mask doesn’t even need to dry to be effective at drawing out imperfections. It is designed to be used once or twice each week.

I’ve tried the mask once and did notice that my skin felt particularly smooth after removal. There is apparently a microdermabrasion effect from one of the minerals, and even though there is no feeling of grittiness, I believe that it did help slough off dead skin cells.

NuVsio Skin Care – Mineral Enriched Balm Concentrate

The balm concentrate serves essentially as a daily moisturizer. It’s oil, rather than water based, and includes ingredients like jojoba, pomegranate seed, and argan oils. I’ve become a huge fan of oil based moisturizers, and this one is no different. I haven’t used it for long, but have not had any reaction to it. Beyond the long lasting feeling of moisture, my favourite part of this concentrate is the scent. It’s fresh and bright and it makes me feel happy to wear.

I found that the balm absorbs quickly enough for me to wear it under makeup without affecting wear or application.

The Active Mineral Facial Treatment Gift Set that we received at the event can be purchased from NuVsio and retails for $120 USD. I think I’ll have to keep using this set for a little longer, both to see how it performs over time, and how long it lasts. Only after learning that will I have a good gauge as to whether it’s worth the price tag.
